A look back at the full carbon Ibis Mojo HD

I first started working with the guys at IBIS in 2009. The MOJO HD (seen below) is such a beautiful piece of artwork. From tip to tail, no stone was left unturned when it came to weight savings, overall efficiency, and plain ole' looks. I was honored to be one of the first to lay eyes (and lens) on it. Here are a few shots from that shoot.

Bicycle racing is in the air...and on the windows in NYC.

This is the first image in a 3 image series highlighting Metro Bicycles on 6th Ave and 15th street in NYC.

While this first post is more about the storefront artwork, the next 2 days that follow are more about the combination of architecture and bicycles. As you will see starting tomorrow, I use reflections to evoke a multi-image look and feel. It is a concept that I had worked on about 2 years ago and decided to have another go at it. The images you will see are not multi-exposure images but instead singe captures. Since i'm a big fan of both architecture and bikes, I am really happy with them.

The image below says it all. Racers have cabin fever from the long, drawn out winter. It's time to knock the dust off your race legs and get registered.

Coca Cola shoot with RJT+R

Day 1 and 2 of my Atlanta trip had us shooting for RJT+R at the Coca Cola call center in Alpharetta, Ga.

This is one of the unique chandeliers that was on display. The bottles were made specially for the opening of the World of Coke in 1991, and RJT+R managed to get their hands on a few for this unique chandelier.

Commerce Club shoot with RJT+R

I just got back from 4 days of shooting with RJT+R architecture and interior design in Atlanta. Days 1 and 2 were at a Coca Cola call center (check back tomorrow). Day 3 consisted of miscellaneous projects in Midtown. The 4th day had us high in the sky at the luxurious Commerce Club in downtown Atlanta, which occupies the 49th floor of 191 Peachtree Tower.

This is one of the amazing skyline views from the Commerce Club. You can see the shadow that 191 Peachtree Tower casts at the bottom of the image with the Sun Trust building in the background.

Maxxis Prototype Tire Testing: Radiale 3C

Being in the cycling industry is such an amazing thrill for me. You meet awesome people, go to great events, and score sweet deals from time to time. Such is the case with my relationship with Maxxis tires.

I'm fortunate enough to be one of the tire testers for Maxxis tires. When the designers and engineers at Maxxis need to test their latest tire design or rubber compound, they throw tires at us and we ride them as often as we can. This time around, I will be testing the Radiale 23c from their road racing line. We usually test for about 8 weeks, and it is my job to put as many miles on the test tires as I can. At the end of the testing, I will report back to the engineers at Maxxis. While the final weight of the tire may vary slightly, my tires weighed in at 240 grams and 250 grams.

I will be putting the first miles on the tires today, but before they hit the tarmac, here is a photo for your viewing pleasure.

Spending the hours reminiscing

While on the subject of Telluride, why not another shot from our 2008 visit. This was taken on the way to the Montrose airport. My cup o' joe quickly falling cool in Chris' KOTO mug as he navigates his Pathfinder up and over Dallas Divide.

It's always so hard leaving Telluride. It really is one of the most amazing places I have ever been, not to mention live (I had the great fortune of living there from 1998-2000). If you have never been, go. Just go. Don't forget your camera.

Ireland 2010

While driving through the countryside in Ireland, we pulled off a random road to find a place for a picture. With the tripod ready, we jumped out and got this one.

Ireland 2010

While in Ireland for a good friend's wedding, Marissa and I took some time to explore the nearby woods. As Marissa gazes at the tree tops, I gaze at a beauty in the woods.

The FDR as seen from my bedroom

While we are very excited to be moving back to the West side of Manhattan, I will miss the views from our Stuytown apartment. Below, the streaking lights of the FDR in the foreground and the Queensboro Bridge in the background.
